Drinking plenty of water is essential and we all heard about it before. This isn’t new but in HCG diet it is important to know how much water drink, whether you are drinking too much or not enough. Yes, when it comes to drinking water it is possible to overdo it and it is life-threatening.
Drinking tons and tons of water could actually be unsafe and life-threatening especially if you are going to drink it all at once. Your kidney can process about 700-800 ml of liquid in an hour. So, it’s never a good idea to chug down a gallon of water in 20 minutes. It could be quite taxing on your kidney and can cause electrolyte imbalance. In Dr. Simeons original protocol, he recommends a minimum of 2 liters a day.
Sometimes you think you are hungry while on the protocol, you are actually thirsty. Drink enough liquids before you eat something. Try hot tea with stevia and see if you are still hungry after drinking tea.
Check your pee each morning. There should be plenty of it. It should be pale or almost clear in color unless you are taking vitamins. Then the color would be bright yellow. If your urine is dark in color even without you taking any vitamins you can be dehydrated. The darker the color, the more water you should drink.
Your daily weight can actually tell you a lot about your hydration status. A quick jump on your scale can be the result of higher salt which causes your body to retain water. A good example is when you eat 3 slices of pizza and a beer. The next morning, you see a quick jump on your scale, your face feels swollen and your rings won’t budge. This is because your body had retained water to make up for all those sodium you took in.
