Bacteriostatic water for hcg injections USP is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, sterile preparation of water with 0.9% (9 mg/ml) or 1.1% (11 mg /ml) of benzyl alcohol as an added preservative. This type of preparation allows for repeated withdrawals of water from a single 10 ml vial of bacteriostatic water that comes in the HCG kit. Bacteriostatic water is different from sterile water. Sterile water is usually filtered and purified but has no additives. It’s for single use only.
Benzyl alcohol stops the growth of bacteria. It is a natural compound made from plants, therefore it’s safe to use. The safe packaging of Bac water is made of a semi-rigid vial specially formulated with a copolymer of ethylene and propylene. It requires no vapor barriers to keep a correct volume.
Indication and uses of BAC water
A bacteriostatic agent is a chemical agent that stops bacteria from reproducing while not necessarily killing them. BAC water can be used for a broader array of drug dilution for intravenous, intramuscular, or subcutaneous injection including the HCG hormone. Sterile Bac water used for HCG injection contains no bacteria. Bacteria can’t grow and reproduce in Bac water or act as an infectious agent, and so, it can be used repeatedly. In most cases, you can use bacteriostatic water for 28 days after opening. After that, you must discard the vial.
You can use bacteriostatic water in three different ways:
How to use BAC water for HCG injection
Bacteriostatic water is essential in the reconstitution of HCG or human chorionic gonadotrophin hormone on the HCG diet.
Can I use sterile water in mixing the HCG?
Sterile water can be great for some things but the recommended means in reconstituting the HCG powder is bacteriostatic water. Bac water allows for repeated withdrawals of the mixture, and you can use them for up to 28 days once opened. Sterile water is for single-dose mixing only.
